Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
Girl you have no fear…my reply, no I just have faith. A few months ago this country girl, born and raised in NC, and had never lived more than a few hours from my hometown took a huge leap of faith and moved 200 miles and 4 hours from home to Charlottesville, VA. I know that doesn’t seem far for some but for someone who would regularly go to her mom’s for an impromptu summer cookout or Sunday dinner, moving out of state and away from my family and friends was a pretty big deal. During my transition from NC to VA I had a lot of late night and early morning conversations about God about faith and my fears. I was paralyzed with fear! I’m talking so scared that I almost turned down a great career opportunity just to stay in NC.
If you are moving or just making a major life decisions, here are 5 FAITH scriptures for overcoming fear.
1.But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:6 (NKJV)
2. I tell you, you an pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. Mark 11:24 (NLT)
I remember asking God for a specific job, a specific salary, and the flexibility to spend more time with 13 year old son. All of this was right in front of me and I had to have faith and receive it.
3. “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. Matthew 17:20 (NLT)
There were a lot of mountains during my move, literally…including commuting up and down the mountains weekly for over a month before I found a place to live in. It was only by faith that I found a condo, in a nice neighborhood, and in my budget.
4. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
5. For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
